The summer is now well and truly over and we have no choice but to welcome colder and darker days. The changing season also brings a changing wardrobe, with many of you packing away the linen skirt to hybernate during winter and bringing out the wool coat, boots and knitwear from the storage box. You will be pleased to hear that in many ways, the Autumn/Winter trends for this year are in our favor: They are offering us universal colours like navy, luxurious feeling fabrics like velvet, delicate detailing like embroidery and backpain-easeing accessories like rucksacks. Many come with ethical credentials ie vegan, fair trade, organic, durable, recycled, etc We have scanned the internet to find our favourite pieces, with inspiration for each colour season and style personality combined with core ethical values. Here is our pick:
Of course, retail shops and marketing agencies want you to buy into ALL the latest trends - but is that really good for you and your wardrobe? The easiest way to look at it is running through your "Questions of Choice" list when seeing a trendy piece, just like you would do for a long term investment buy. Always ask yourself:
Does this colour flatter my complexion?
Do I hear my style words?
Will it compliment pieces in my existing wardrobe?
Does it allign with my core values?
Will I still wear it when it's considered "last season"?
If you can genuinely answer all of the above with a resounding YES (and our consultants can of course help you with that decision) then you might have found yourself a gem. After all, the reason why trends come and go each year is to give us a fair chance to find things we really like. Imagine how frustrating it would be if shops never changed their stock and wouldn't waiver from their set in stone colours, cuts and fabrics. Dreadful! Instead, you should cherish trends that happen to meet your specific criteria. They allow you to stock up on clothes that won't be around next year. On the filpside, it's okay to not find anything suitable - it might be your turn soon.
Keep me posted on how you are getting on with your wardrobe transformation this season - I look forward to hearing from you! xx
